Pony Tales in the Park
What could be more fun than reading your favorite story to a furry pony!
For the last two years we've teamed up with New Castle County Hockessin and Kirkwood Highway libraries to create a very unique summer time reading program. Children of all level of abilities are able to come out and read comfortably without expectation to the ponies all while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Carousel Park.
This is a great way to catch up on your summer time reading and enjoy a few arts and crafts, children guest speakers and receive free pony books from Success Can't Wait. Participants each week will enjoy learning something new about the United Kingdom Shetland breed and why the breed came to the United States. Children may also have an opportunity to groom and take a pony for a walk at the end of their reading segment.
In order to plan for activities, PPL volunteers and staffing from the NCCo libraries, you must register each week with either the Kirkwood Highway or Hockessin library in order to participate in Pony Tales in the Park.
Be sure to check back for the 2010 summer program dates. When registering for this program, you must contact the Kirkwood or Hockessin library at the below telephone and address:
